Capturing Life as It Happens: A Photographer’s Evolving Story

It’s just over a month away from my daughter’s third birthday, and I’ve just wrapped up my second full summer with her. We’ve soaked up warm evenings in the backyard with family, camped under the stars with friends, and spent endless hours playing outdoors.

This summer I made a point to bring my camera along for more of these moments, hoping to bottle up the sweet, fleeting magic of this time in our lives.

Before becoming a mom, I didn’t feel the same pull to photograph my own family. Now my camera feels like pure gold. The chance to pause a moment and keep it forever, to remember my sweet girl exactly as she is right now, feels priceless.

As I look back through photographs of my daughter, I love seeing her in her pink Moana dress or with her messy, unbrushed hair after a long day. The mess in the backyard that I might once have thought of as “unaesthetic” now feels like an important part of the story. Even the motion blur in a photo takes me right back to her squeals of joy as her dad pushes her on her bike. These are the details I never want to forget.

As I’ve documented these deeply personal chapters, I’ve come closer to the truth of what I want to capture for every person who steps in front of my lens. I want to tell your story, your truth, your everyday. And as I’ve seen it more clearly in my own photos, I’ve found new ways to bring that out in yours.

I’ve always been drawn to storytelling and to finding the beauty in authenticity. But the way I go about it has evolved. Each season of my life teaches me more about how to capture connection in its most natural form.

One example is my Everyday Adventure Photo Sessions, a way for families to welcome me into their world and let me capture a real slice of life. These are not about perfectly posed portraits or stiff smiles. They are about moments that breathe: bare feet in the grass, sandy hands at the beach, giggles in the kitchen.

Even in my all-inclusive portrait sessions, I have felt this shift. I am more intentional about creating a relaxed environment, encouraging play, and focusing on connection over perfection. I have learned, both as a photographer and as a mother, that the imperfect moments often turn out to be the most treasured.

If you are longing for photographs that feel like home, full of movement, warmth, and truth, I would love to help you tell that story. Whether it is in your backyard, on a favorite trail, or in your living room on a rainy day, I will be there to capture the moments you will want to keep close for years to come.
